GEORGETOWN — There’s a new king and queen in town.

Ripley Dayhill Dirt Kickers 4-H Club representative Tristen Cahall was voted the Junior Fair King and was joined by Barn Busters 4-H Club representative Natalie Wagner, who was crowned Junior Fair Queen during the Junior Fair King and Queen contest in the Danny Gray Activities Center on the first night of the 2015 Brown County Fair.

“In the beginning I could just feel my heart pounding right after the questions and the anticipation to it,” Cahall said following the event. “But once my name was actually called I was smiling from ear to ear. Now I’m just prepared to take on the week and the rest of the year going to the different fairs.”

Cahall was joined by the King’s Court, featuring Clinton Church of Georgetown Future Farmers of America, William Jividen of Red Oak Ranchers 4-H Club, Ethan Puckett of Eastern Brown FFA, and Logan Scott of Georgetown Hooves and Halters 4-H Club. Wagner’s Queen’s Court included Vanessa Corboy of Mt. Orab Livewires 4-H Club, Miranda Wallace of Georgetown Hooves and Halters 4-H Club, Kasey Spires of Georgetown Happy Hustlers 4-H Club, and Nichole Jones of Champion Drive 4-H Club.

“As a little girl I always looked up to the queen, (who was like) a princess,” Wagner said. “To me, it’s something that really hits home and I get to do what i got to see all these other girls do. I’m just really proud of my accomplishments and all of the people that got up here.”

As in previous Junior Fair King and Queen contests, after introducing the five finalists for king and queen, each representative had to answer a question supplied by the masters of ceremonies. The 2014 Brown County Fair Queen, Abigail DeWitt, and 2014 King’s Court member Justin Johnson served as MC on Monday evening. Brown County 2014 Fair King Zachary Proctor was unable to attend due to his college schedule, DeWitt said during the event.

While the judges were making their decision, DeWitt and Johnson handed out other awards to the representatives on stage.

Wagner and Church were awarded as the 2015 Outstanding 4-H’ers. Wagner is currently the president of her club and the Junior Fair board, and has been a 4-H member for 10 years. Church is a member of the Junior Fair Board and has been involved with 4-H for nine years.

Next, the 2015 industry ambassadors were presented to the large audience.

The beef industry ambassador is Sydney Fussnecker of Georgetown FFA. The swine industry ambassador is Bailey Barber. The equine industry ambassador is Hannah Carter. The agriculture and exhibits ambassadors are Shelby Griffith and Jacob Clubb. The canine industry ambassador is Maddie Layton. The goat industry ambassador is Meghan Koch. The small animals industry ambassadors are Sarah Young and Nathan Bixler. And lastly, the family consumer science ambassadors are Moriah Combs and Jeffrey Clifton.

Finally, when the judges made their decisions, the King’s and Queen’s Courts were announced, with Cahall and Wagner crowned as the King and Queen of the 2015 Brown County Fair.

“Coming from a 4-H family, this is my 18th fair I’ve been to,” Cahall said. “Every year when I was younger, I watched different kids come up here and I always thought, ‘I wanted to be the fair king some day’. It was always just one of my biggest dreams. I’m just so proud to finally achieve it.”
